1948年。 第２次世界大戦直後の1945年10月、ルイーズ台風が沖縄に甚大な被害を与えた。その結果、米軍は多くの船舶や上陸用舟艇を損失した。ルイーズ台風に続き台風は発生し続け、損害は増えていった。1948年に沖縄を襲ったリビー台風はその例である。この台風の結果、沖縄の海岸やサンゴ礁は、朽ちた船舶や上陸用舟艇の墓場となった。写真はその1例である。 1948 Shortly after WWII the U.S. Military experienced great losses of their ships and watercraft due to typhoon Louise that devastated the island in October 1945. Subsequent typhoons continued to add to the losses, including typhoon Libby that hit the island in October 1948.
